I like it for its quiet, peaceful lifestyle and cleanliness. Imagine a fusion of mini Miami mixed with Little Paris. The people are friendly and welcoming and the entire neighborhood is a crockpot of different cultures. Everything you need and more is on your doorstep and they just keep adding! Of course there is the odd gripe here and there but what city doesn’t have its corrupt mayor or back hand payment real estate agent?
Other than that, Ir Yamim is wonderful for young families, Older families, retirees, empty nesters, millennials, Gen X’s, Gen Y’s, thirtysomethings still living with their parents, basically there is something for everyone here! There’s also a nature reserve next door that blooms black Irises once a year which is something quite spectacular and if the Iriya plan to build 6 new hotels on the beach front, then at least they can’t take the protected nature reserve away from us!

Everything from secular to ultra Orthodox, from old to new, reasonable to very expensive. Lots of new construction and renovations. Fantastic beaches, within walking distance from many neighborhoods. Lots of beach amenities, sailing lessons, kite sailing, surfing, lounging. Majority of neighborhoods have local stores. Easy biking. Several shopping malls, cinemas, IKEA. Convenient to Tel Aviv without being in a big city. Renovated downtown. Lots of concerts and festivals. Lots of AirBNB/hotels for visitors. Feels like a smaller city than it is. Great public transportation, train is conveniently located. Taxis are plentiful. Residents range from singles to seniors, Olim to sabras. Pets welcome (please pick up after your dog.) Best place I’ve lived in Israel, no intention of leaving.
