Rechovot is a city in center Israel, and it has a large blend of people (chareidi, dati leumi, chiloni, chabad) that live together and in unison. There are many parks and green areas, and unless you're on Herzl itself then it's not as crowded and crazy as a real city. There are two areas that are more concentrated with Anglos - one area is near Weizmann and the shul is Berman's (modern orthodox); the other is near Shklonick Street and the shul is Chatam (chareidi but many members are dati leumi). If you are looking for America in Israel then Rechovot is not for you. But if you are willing to force your Hebrew to improve and you want your children to be well-integrated into Israeli society, then choose Rechovot! Especially since the commute to Tel Aviv is quite reasonable (train itself takes 18-24 minutes) and the city has a great iriyah (municipality).
